The Climb

COMING SOON: The Climb is a fictional novel about ambition, belonging, and the private costs of building a life after trauma. It follows Nia, an ambitious junior producer who has carefully constructed a stable future despite growing up in foster care and aging out of the system.

When her mentor, Jackie, offers her access to an exclusive Martha’s Vineyard social and professional world, Nia sees a path toward the career and recognition she has always wanted. But the opportunity comes with subtle pressures: Jackie encourages her to reshape her personal story for powerful audiences, and Nia begins to question whether advancement requires her to minimize the truth of where she came from. At the same time, Nia is navigating messages that eventually reveal the painful truth behind Nia’s childhood removal from her mother, forcing her to reconsider her lifelong belief that she was unwanted.

Through Nia’s journey, The Climb explores the emotional debt of opportunity, the complexity of mentorship, the lingering effects of foster care, and the question of whether success is meaningful if it requires losing pieces of oneself.
